Bee happy ..... add stripes

A great way to add a wow factor to any room is to use stripes.
Stripes can be used on walls, windows, floors or accessories. I recently came across these images from Pinterest and love the way the stripes have been painted on the walls, this is a great way of achieving the industrial look at the same time of adding a feature to any room.

Softer colours can help make a stripe feel more feminine and elegant and can be used in a female bedroom, bathroom or any room where you don’t want to much of an impact but still want some interest.
I just adore this room with the yellow border it’s also a great way of adding interest but because of the one stripe around the room other stripes can also be introduced into the scheme. Striped accessories in the form of a cushions or throws would work really well in this room but so would a striped blind.

Apollo Blinds have just launched their Twilight range of blinds and these would be a perfect way of adding stripes into any room.

These grey stripe blinds are perfect for an industrial style bedroom or office but I think a darker colour would make more of an feature in a lounge/dining room.
How will you use stripes in your home?

I wanted to share this gorgeous green lamp with you.

I have just designed an industrial shabby chic office and this light was perfect for the job.

Would you believe it only cost £20 from B&Q?

I love it!

It is also available in other pretty colours too.

Bee happy .... industrial chic office

I wanted to share this Industrial chic office with you.

The mood board above shows the different aspects and colours needed for the room.

The main colours were white and grey but to lift the room some green accents were needed.

This was found in the form of this great green desk lamp.

Clipboards were used as notice boards with wire storage trays and painted magazine files.

A chalk board was introduced using an old frame. The chalk paint was painted onto
the wall then the frame was secured over the top of the paint.

Hope you like the finished result.

Bee happy .... finished kitchen

Remember this gorgeous kitchen I was working on a couple of weeks ago?

The brief was to make the room feel more welcoming and warmer and add some pastel touches.

The kitchen has had the final finishing touches added and has been dressed and is now ready to be seen.

Gorgeous wallpaper and painted furniture compliment the already beautiful blue cabinets.

The breakfast bar was created with a kitchen base unit and an old table top which was then waxed.

A settee was introduced into the kitchen for a more relaxed feel.

My client is really pleased with the results and loves using this room now.

Bee happy ..... create a kitchen mood board

In my interior designer role I have created a mood board for this beautiful kitchen in which the owner's brief was to make it more warm and homely using pastels.

The owner also requested an island unit/breakfast bar in the centre of the room to replace a large table which seated 6 people.

After considering several options an old wooden table top was sourced for the island unit which works out perfectly.

These are the before pictures.

The kitchen is a work in progress and the decorators are still working.

The finished kitchen will follow shortly.
